McKenna's Position on The Scottish Club

The Ipswich boss described Celtic as "an enormous football club" but emphasized he is "deeply involved" of a "extensive rebuilding" with Ipswich Town.

The 39-year-old took charge of Portman Road in recent years and led them to the English top flight with consecutive elevations, but they managed only four games last season as they were demoted back to the second division and they presently occupy 12th in England's second tier.

"There have been any of those conversations," the English capital native former Northern Ireland young player said when asked about being on the candidate list.

"It's not something I have considered seriously, or where any portion of my concentration is this week.

"I possess a unique position here at a special team. And we're at a really important phase of the campaign. Anything outside of that hasn't reached my awareness."

Context and Contractual Details

Reports indicate that the manager would be willing to talk to the Scottish side given his childhood support.

"Growing up, we all have our preferences," he said when asked about those. "I don't think all people has to publicly and declare what they were, but of course it's a massive football club."

McKenna signed a fresh four-year contract in 2024 and was asked about his reported £5m release clause.

"In every manager's contract, there are things," he replied. "I'm unaware what my specific terms are and, were I informed, I wouldn't disclose you anyway!

"I approach this job like I'll be Ipswich manager forever. I know that's not invariably going to be the situation, but I'll always give maximum effort as long as I am here."

Bellamy's Situation

Bellamy represented Celtic on loan from the Magpies in 2005, but the ex- Wales forward is inclined to complete the current global tournament qualification, a stance that would practically eliminate the 46-year-old from assuming the Celtic job.

Wales are presently in third place in their World Cup group behind leaders Belgium and runners-up Macedonia.

Wins over the minnows and their rivals in November would secure their place in the final qualifying round, but they are all but guaranteed of reaching that stage, thanks to a productive European competition campaign, should they not finish as Group J second place.

Considering his current position, Bellamy, whose agreement concludes after Euro 2028, would be unavailable until following the play-offs at the earliest.
