Series of Targeted Attacks
Since the onset of the extensive conflict in Ukraine, a number of Russian military officials have been targeted within Moscow.
This most recent event echoes other serious incidents, for instance:
- General Yaroslav Moskalik was killed in a vehicle explosion in Moscow earlier this year.
- General Igor Kirillov died in late 2024 when a bomb placed on a scooter was triggered from afar.
While a source from Ukraine earlier attributed Kirillov's death to Ukraine's security service, such allegations are rarely publicly admitted as a matter of standard practice.
Hostilities has witnessed covert operations moving into the heart of the Russian capital.
